The Everest Strong Hearts: Sports & Arts Program
The Everest Legacy Fund is committed to helping kids experience the joy of sports and the arts, regardless of financial barriers. Through this annual grant, families can apply for up to $500 per child to help cover registration fees, equipment, and other costs that make participation possible.
Applications are open to children and youth ages 4–17 living in the Greater Nelson area. Funding is limited, and priority may be given to families demonstrating the greatest need.

The Story Behind the Everest Legacy Fund
During Everest’s time playing hockey, there was a time that revealed both a gap in the system and the strength of the team. A teammate couldn’t afford to attend a tournament, so a few parents quietly covered the costs. It was a simple act that reminded us how much community matters — and how important it is to make sure every kid gets the chance to show up and belong.
That moment stuck with us. It showed us there was a need — a gap that wasn’t being filled by any current funding options. After Everest passed, we knew immediately that a legacy fund had to be created to address that very gap. It wasn’t just about money — it was about inclusion, support, and making sure no one was left out. And if you knew Everest, you’d know just how perfectly that aligns with who he was.

By partnering with the Everest Legacy Fund, your team joins a growing movement rooted in compassion and community. Together, we can turn love into action — and carry Everest’s light forward, one step at a time.
